Easter 2013

The kids had a good Easter this year! They definitely got a lot of candy.

Allie and Zachary with their Easter baskets. Side Note: the Easter bunny kinda slacked this year due to daily visits to the hospital so he she just got them pre-made baskets.

They love their baskets!

Zach's, Sydnee's and Allie's baskets

Looked super adorable in their Easter outfits:

Aren't they so cute!!!

After Sacrament we went to visit Sydnee. And before we left the hospital, the kids were in the Ronald McDonald Room and had the chance to pick out an Easter basket that was donated to the families that have siblings in the NICU.

Allie sure does love her baby sister

When we got home from the hospital the kids searched for eggs in the backyard. They had so much fun.

And they are off...

Zach found one of the golden eggs

And Allie found the other

Baskets are full of candy filled eggs
After the egg hunt we "painted" eggs, well Allie did. Zachary really didn't want anything to do with coloring the eggs.

1 Month!!

Our little Sydnee is one month today! I can't believe how fast this past month went by. She's is doing go great for being 12 weeks early. We are so proud of Sydnee and all that she's done these past 4 weeks!!
Some of Sydnee's accomplishments so far are:

* She is slowly gaining weight, she is currently at 2lbs 5oz (she seems to want to stay in the 3oz-5oz range)
* She is doing well at holding her own body temp. but they wont move her to an open crib until she hits 1700 grams (about 3 1/2 pounds)
* She is off C-PAP and off the high-flow and is on just a small amount of Oxygen
* She seems to be able to poop on her own with out a suppository

We love you so much Sydnee, AKA our little miracle!!! And we can't wait for you to come home!!!

HOW PREEMIE MOMS ARE CHOSEN

I saw this little poem/story on a website that I visit quite frequently and it really hit me and thought I'd share it with my friends/family...

HOW PREEMIE MOMS ARE CHOSEN
Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen? Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Beth Armstrong, son. Patron Saint, Matthew. Marjorie Forrest, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia. Carrie Rutledge, twins. Patron Saint ... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a preemie."

The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."

"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."

"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.

"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."

"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."

God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness."

The angel gasps, "Selfishness?! Is that a virtue?"

God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says 'mama' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see – ignorance, cruelty, prejudice – and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."

"And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air. God smiles.

"A mirror will suffice."

Holding Sydnee

When Sydnee turned 1 week I was able to hold her for the first time!!! I can NOT describe how it felt. It was just incredible!! I was so scared to hold her tho because she is so small, I was scared I would break her. But she just cuddled right up on my chest and slept. It was perfect. She is perfect!!!!!!!!!

Look how tiny her foot is!

Please excuse my stains on my bra. I leaked before I could buy some pads

Me and my princess

Wide awake looking at mommy. She's just so beautiful!!!
