1 Month!!

Our little Sydnee is one month today! I can't believe how fast this past month went by. She's is doing go great for being 12 weeks early. We are so proud of Sydnee and all that she's done these past 4 weeks!!
Some of Sydnee's accomplishments so far are:

* She is slowly gaining weight, she is currently at 2lbs 5oz (she seems to want to stay in the 3oz-5oz range)
* She is doing well at holding her own body temp. but they wont move her to an open crib until she hits 1700 grams (about 3 1/2 pounds)
* She is off C-PAP and off the high-flow and is on just a small amount of Oxygen
* She seems to be able to poop on her own with out a suppository

We love you so much Sydnee, AKA our little miracle!!! And we can't wait for you to come home!!!

HOW PREEMIE MOMS ARE CHOSEN

I saw this little poem/story on a website that I visit quite frequently and it really hit me and thought I'd share it with my friends/family...

HOW PREEMIE MOMS ARE CHOSEN
Did you ever wonder how the mothers of premature babies are chosen? Somehow, I visualize God hovering over Earth, selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As he observes, he instructs his angels to take notes in a giant ledger. "Beth Armstrong, son. Patron Saint, Matthew. Marjorie Forrest, daughter. Patron Saint, Celia. Carrie Rutledge, twins. Patron Saint ... give her Gerard. He's used to profanity." Finally, he passes a name to an angel and smiles. "Give her a preemie."

The angel is curious. "Why this one, God? She's so happy."

"Exactly," smiles God. "Could I give a premature baby a mother who knows no laughter? That would be cruel."

"But does she have the patience?" asks the angel.

"I don't want her to have too much patience, or she'll drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wear off, she'll handle it. I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence so rare and so necessary in a mother. You see, the child I'm going to give her has a world of its own. She has to make it live in her world, and that's not going to be easy."

"But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you."

God smiles. "No matter, I can fix that. This one is perfect. She has just the right amount of selfishness."

The angel gasps, "Selfishness?! Is that a virtue?"

God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she will never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child less than perfect. She doesn't know it yet, but she is to be envied. She will never take for granted a spoken word. She will never consider a step ordinary. When her child says 'mama' for the first time, she will be witness to a miracle and know it. I will permit her to see clearly the things I see – ignorance, cruelty, prejudice – and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life because she is doing my work as surely as she is here by my side."

"And what about her Patron Saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in the air. God smiles.

"A mirror will suffice."

Holding Sydnee

When Sydnee turned 1 week I was able to hold her for the first time!!! I can NOT describe how it felt. It was just incredible!! I was so scared to hold her tho because she is so small, I was scared I would break her. But she just cuddled right up on my chest and slept. It was perfect. She is perfect!!!!!!!!!

Look how tiny her foot is!

Please excuse my stains on my bra. I leaked before I could buy some pads

A's Vday Party

Today Allie had her Valentines day party! I was so excited for this party, since I was more prepared this year than last year. I made a box (even though she didn't use it) and we got some fun V-day cards for her to pass out to her class mates. Then once everyone was done passing out their cards it was time for treats. Allie and her friend Illidan sure loved this part of the party :)

I love that cheesy grin of hers!!!

Eating a cupcake. YUM!

Not So Great News

I had a NST/doppler/BBP yesterday and it was a hard appointment for me, I really should have had Todd go with me. The doctor told me the arteries in her umbilical cord aren't doing well. One is working "okay" and the other is on the way too not working at all (I don't really understand that part because I was crying so I wasn't listening like I should of) so I've been struggling with this news ever since yesterday also during the NST and ultrasound Sydnees heart rate dropped a couple times and because of that the doctor decided it would be a good idea for me to get the steroid shot to help Sydnee's lung incase I had her in the next couple weeks. I also would have to repeat the shot ever week or couple weeks because the shot does wear off. And as I said with Allie and Zachary - that shot HURTS like a mother effer!!! I hate that shot so bad!!!!! The doctor wanted to admit me but I didn't want to be admitted so he said I have to have a repeat NST. Well as for today's repeat NST it didn't look that great so I had to have an ultrasound and she looked good on that: moved around, was breathing here and there and on the doppler (blood flow in the umbilical cord) looked like yesterdays - no change. So the steroid shot has helped her and the doctor was comfortable with me being on bed rest at home. But I have to have a repeat NST/doppler/BBP and if they are worse I'll be admitted in the hopsital till I have her or till she's doing better.

28 Week Appt

Today I had my 28 week doctor appointment. It went pretty good. First I'd like to mention I got my PICC line out - finally after 4 months of having it in I got it out!!! I just couldn't stand the itching from the tape anymore plus the line was coming out because I was scratching it so much, so it just needed to come out. Now I'm praying I don't throw up anymore but we'll see... But as for my doctor appointment baby's heartbeat sounded good - like usual. My tummy is now measuring at 24/25 weeks so baby is about 3/4 weeks behind. So because of that my doctor and I talked about me "hoping" to at least to try and make it to 36/37 weeks and then I'll get induced then but there is a chance I could be induced earlier. So at this point I have no idea when Sydnee will be here??? Its frustrating!!! Also my doctor wants me to start going every two weeks. I have so many appointments from now until I have Sydnee its crazy!!

Bed Rest!

I had another doppler ultrasound today and all I can say is I wasn't a happy mama when I left the office. So you know where the doppler ultrasound they check the blood flow from baby to placenta and with Sydnee - each time there has been some restriction on the blood flow, and I shouldn't really worry about it. Well this week (today) the doctor told me it's more restricted which means something is up with the placenta. And due to it being more restricted I need to go on STRICT bed rest. Strict bed rest!!! This is going to be so hard with the other two kid at home. But I'm so worried about Sydnee. I totally left the doctors office in tears. This pregnancy is so hard I just don't know what to do?? I'm so scared something is going to happen to my baby girl.
